Our mission is to improve the quality of life of feral and homeless cats by focusing on humanly TNR (trap, neuter and return) community feral cats, providing feral shelters and finding homes for the domesticated, stray and homeless cats and kittens.
Our vision is to adopt domesticated cats and kittens to forever homes, contribute to TNR (Trap, Neuter and Return) in our community, provide feral shelters to help our cats' quality of life against Nebraska elements and be the guardians for the voiceless. We have respect and compassion for all animal life, we just absolutely love cats!

A lot of people ask me how many cats I had growing up and I actually never had a cat as a child. We always had dogs. I do remember as a kid always going to the neighbors house to see their kitten- almost everyday until we moved.
My husband Matt and I started dating and moved in together, we got our first tabby cat named Belle. Although most people want kittens for their first cat, we wanted to take in a older cat; who needed to be rehomed due to family allergies. Shortly after adopting Belle, our love for cats grew even more, so much that we wanted another cat. The same family we got Belle from still had one 8 year old boy cat they hadn't found a home for yet. I offered to take him immediately since he was coming from the same home as Belle. We had Belle and Sage for many years. Both have since passed in the recent years.
People do call me a cat whisperer at times because of the number of homeless cats that have "found me". It is unreal sometimes.
Matt and I both found our love for rescuing cats and volunteering with The Cat House since 2009. We don't plan on leaving them either. Just because we wanted to start our own non-profit, The Cat House is very near and dear to our hearts and have helped us so much over the years.
We have all already been guardians to as many felines as we can, we just wanted to make it official!
My name is Matt Yank! It would be easy for me to just say...see Megan Yank's bio when it comes to the backstory of how these beautiful creatures have become an integral part of my life, but that would be doing my passion for felines a great disservice.

My wife, our cats, and all the wonderful kitties we have saved over the years has given my life a purpose I could have only dreamed of in my youth. Now with the development of Guardians for Felines, we have a conduit to reach more people in our community to raise awareness for our feline friends in need and that has raised that purpose to a whole new level!
All of our friends and family have helped us in some manner through the years and for that I am grateful. I want to give a special thanks to Marcus Moore and Cody Hawkins for stepping up and helping to make the Guardians for Felines project a reality. I am impassioned to collaborate with this team and our community to help grow this wonderful organization.

I have always known that I couldn’t live without a cat in my life. My best friend and I found two kitties that needed a forever home 17 years ago. My sweet boy had the best 17 years of his life with my husband and I. In those 17 years we have given 10 cats a forever homes that our best friends Megan and Matt Yank rescued.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family and friends. We love going to the lake, taking vacations, bike rides, playing outdoor games and going to the casino. I also enjoy helping raise money for cats by going to events and silent auctions.
I am part of D&I (Division & Inclusion) for LGBTQ for the last 3 years. Being apart of D&I is being able to educate others and help raise awareness.
Being apart of GFF (Guardians for Felines) is huge because we are going to be able to provide shelters, food and medicine and getting the feral cats sprayed and neutered.
I'm Cody Hawkins! I grew up in Craig, NE and moved to Lincoln later in life. I am a huge cat lover and currently have several of my own cats. I love being part of a organization who cares about the safety and wellbeing of all cats. Its important for the community to know about spaying and neutering as well as resources that are available.

In addition to my love for cats, I am also a huge Husker Volleyball fan. I also enjoy spending time at the lake in the summers.
